This is so cool. I am trying to gather ideas for a steampunk costume in November. I have little sewing experience. I want something just like yours! If you have time, I'd love to know where you got your patterns and dreads. thanks

You wouldn't get them before summer, unfortunately, but aren't they cute?

Just got around to checking this out. J. Those bloomers are gorgeous!!! the lace is to die for and your solution for the elastic gap is genius and executed so well. think I may need a pair, slimmer (not quite so bloomy) to wear under long skirts when the cold winds blow. Lets talk!

Hi Jessi,

I'll bet the kimono will do better for a little rest in a dark corner. You may find when you shed light on it again that new ideas on how to get what you're after will surface. Hope so!

Thanks, Stacy! I did make my dressform, with a little help. OK, OK, my boyfriend technically made it.

I took some photos when I made last year's duct tape dressform:
http://looptangle.com/2008/11/time-travel-duct-tape-doubles/

This year, we followed these directions: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/3630/duct-tape-dress-form-1 The triple layers of horizontal and vertical helps keep the shape better, but I still had trouble getting it to stay closed once stuffed. I've applied a LOT of extra tape, going all the way around, to make sure it stays closed.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try to help!
